Talking about Feed

When I read the first sentence of Feed, my impression was that this book was going to appeal to the teenage mind. In the beginning of the book Titus describes going to the moon for spring break, and I know any teenager in this century would thinks its pretty cool to go to the moon for spring break. And yet Titus says "... but the moon turned out to completely suck." Like if they were taking a family vacation to Iowa or something. Another interesting thing about this book are the names M.T Anderson chose for his characters. Some of the names I find kind of weird are Titus, Link, Calistia, Quendy, and Loga. I think Anderson chose these names because they’re "futuristic". For example one day we talking about names for our kids, and because Brianna is weird she said she would name her kids things like, Martha, Ernistine, or other old fashion names because then they would get made fun of (ahhh Brianna). So unless there names have some deeper meaning, I think he chose those names because the names we have now would sound old and weird. Two characters that are kind of… interesting are Quendy and Calista. These two girls represent the really stupid airheads (or I guess feed heads) of there time. One of the things they do is listen to the feed when it tells them to change their hairstyle, and they run to the bathroom to change it. This reminded me of Wall-e when the fat people on the moving chair things just automatically change the color of their clothes just because they are told to by the head cooperation. Right now we have trends and styles that change like every year, but with all this new technology the world is moving faster and we might end up like that, were we have new trends like everyday.
